About the escape room
You have volunteered to be in what is Houdini’s final death-defying performance – a Double Escape! The room you are in is booby-trapped with a timer that, once activated, will result in the collapse of the walls and everything in it. Outside the room, Houdini has been locked away in a completely soundproofed and locked box — with only enough air to last an hour. Your job is to successfully break out of your room and save the Great Houdini within the hour, or the both of you will end up being part of a disappearing act that is permanent to your fate.

AI Overview

AIPlayers consistently call it very lock heavy and more Gen 1 in style. Difficulty feels split: some cruised out fast and say it’s beginner level, others expected an easy room and were surprised by a few sticking points. Theming is light-but-present with magic touches, and the game master gets praise for being kind and helpful. A few note uneven room usage and wish key set pieces tied tighter to the plot.
WeaknessesIt leans almost entirely on locks, which can feel samey and less immersive for some. Difficulty signage can be misleading, and parts of the set, like the first room or cage, could connect better to the story.
StrengthsClever, satisfying padlock puzzles and a nice back-and-forth between two spaces keep momentum up. The Houdini angle fits the tactile, mechanical feel and sells the classic vibe.
SecurityNo safety concerns raised in reviews, and the ‘booby-trapped’ angle is purely thematic. Expect a standard briefing and clear instructions from staff.
Level of fearNot scary and family-friendly. The peril is all in the narrative timer, not in horror elements.
Actors' gameNo in-room actors mentioned, but the game master is repeatedly described as friendly and supportive. Hints, when requested, come smoothly and don’t break the flow.
Quality of riddlesMostly padlocks, keys, and straightforward logic with a few clever moments, so be meticulous. Fair and readable, though variety is limited if you’re craving high-tech or narrative puzzles.
PlotBreak out and rescue Houdini before the hour runs out, a simple Double Escape hook that keeps tension up. Story integration is serviceable, though some props feel underused.
Difficulty levelBeginners will likely do well and may even finish early; enthusiasts who love locks will still find pockets of challenge. If you expect a techy or puzzle-variety gauntlet, this skews easier and more traditional.

We’re fairly new and got out in about 25 minutes, so it felt short but still exciting. Great intro to escape rooms, though puzzle veterans might want something meatier. Cozy vibe, friendly staff.

Solid Gen 1 experience with tons of locks and a couple clever twists. The GM was awesome and hints were on point when we asked. I only wish the cage tied into the story a bit more.

Classic padlock heaven. We clicked with the flow, loved the steady reveals, and the Houdini flavor made the mechanics feel intentional instead of repetitive. Not flashy, just clean fun with a sweet finish.

I wish the first room pulled more weight since most action sat on one side. The back-and-forth worked well, though, and the cage could use tighter story integration.

I expected something super easy, but a few puzzles made us slow down and double-check our work. Back-and-forth between rooms felt satisfying, even if the first space wasn’t used as much as I hoped.

We had a blast and only needed two nudges. It’s a classic style room that rewards careful eyes, and the theme lands nicely without being overdone.

Ideal for beginners with a super friendly game master. Labeled medium, but it felt entry-level, and we finished in about twenty minutes, which left us wanting more time-wise. Still a strong intro room.

Lock heavy, yes, but it fits the Houdini angle and the tactile solving is fun. Not the most immersive build, still a tidy, enjoyable hour for teams who like straightforward deduction.

Very lock focused, and despite many saying it’s easy, I found it challenging after 20+ rooms under my belt.

Cozy space with a light magic vibe. Two rooms kept serving up secrets, and the padlocks actually supported the Houdini feel rather than hurting it.

For a Gen 1 build, it’s entertaining and has a few smart puzzles. There are loads of locks, which makes sense for the theme.

Almost entirely lock-based. Not the most immersive set I’ve seen, but a solid bare-bones start for folks getting into themed rooms.

Great pick for first-timers. It’s all about locks, and it’s an easygoing, fun run.

Good room overall, tougher than its marketing suggested. Not a personal top pick, but nothing fundamentally wrong with it.
