About the escape room
Memories of your epic night out in Big Bear Village are fuzzy. You recall hanging out, singing Karaoke until the wee hours of the morning. When you woke up… your crazy friend was gone. After two days of tracing your steps you received a strange call. “Hello, this is Dr. Fawnskin… I have your friend at the Big Bear Asylum. I’m sorry, but we had to institutionalize him. He lost his mind and was found in the mountains searching for it. We finally got your number from him. Unfortunately, a frontal lobotomy has been ordered in two days… unless you can come up with $100k that is!!! Mmmwwaahhahahah!” Word is, Dr. Fawnskin, isn’t running the most legal asylum in the area. No one really knows what goes on there. He’s run the Big Bear Asylum for 40 years and the crazy seems to have rubbed off on him. It’s night time… at the asylum… find your friend and get him out before Dr. Fawnskin returns in the morning and decides to lock all of you in… forever!!!

AI Overview

AIPlayers consistently call it fun with a spooky vibe and a single-room layout that briefly splits the team. Communication-driven and semi-tech puzzles land well, though a big red herring pops up. Maintenance is uneven, with reports of broken or retired puzzles and one group finding a workaround. GM support ranges from excellent and proactive to underprepared on specific steps.
WeaknessesA few puzzles have been broken or removed, and one red herring can feel cheap. At least one GM didn’t know a solution, which stalled momentum. The aesthetic isn’t a slam dunk for everyone.
StrengthsTeam communication is central and genuinely satisfying when it clicks. Some neat tech touches and a cohesive theme keep the energy up. Responsive staff can swoop in and fix glitches fast.
SecurityGM oversight is present, and glitches can be addressed quickly in-room. Compact space and low physicality keep it straightforward and safe for most players.
Level of fearSpooky but not brutal—more eerie than intense. Teens should be fine; very young or jumpy players might squirm a bit.
Actors' gameNo clear reports of live actors; it reads as a puzzle-led experience with GM support. Interaction seems focused on props, audio, and mechanisms rather than character play.
Quality of riddlesMix of communication-heavy and tech-forward tasks with at least one intentional misdirection. When everything works, they’re engaging; when pieces are broken or bypassed, the flow suffers. Overall enjoyable with a few quirks to navigate.
PlotTrace your wild night and break your friend out of Big Bear Asylum before Dr. Fawnskin returns. The story unfolds in a single room with a short separation that amps up the tension.
Difficulty levelSolid mid-range. Teams that communicate well will cruise, while newcomers can still succeed despite a couple of curveballs.

Tight, single-room tension that starts by splitting you up for a minute—nice touch. One red herring wasted time, but the comms-based puzzles were satisfying. Would recommend to groups that like to coordinate under pressure.

Loved how much we had to actually talk to each other. The room’s creepy without being over the top, and the finale had us scrambling. Great date-night pick if you like a little adrenaline without nightmares after.

Two puzzles wouldn’t cooperate, and after burning time we learned they were basically out of commission with no fix yet. Our GM also didn’t know one step and said most teams skip it because it just turns on a light. Still gave it a decent score because the rest was entertaining.

One of our first more tech-forward rooms, and we really liked it. Communication mattered a lot, which made the solves feel earned. We hit a small glitch, but the game master came right in and fixed it, and the whole run stayed fun.

The story sells the mission—rescue your buddy before the doc returns—and the ticking clock works. A couple of clues felt clunky, but the team highs made up for it. Good for mixed-experience groups.

Creepy in a fun way and all in one room. They split one of us off at the start, which raised the stakes, and there’s a big red herring that definitely ate time. Still, we had a good time from start to finish.

We had a tiny glitch and the GM popped in, fixed it, and got us rolling fast. Communication is the secret sauce here, and it’s super fun when it clicks. Spooky vibe, clean run, would play again.

Atmosphere is solid, though the set didn’t totally wow me. Puzzles felt fair, with a couple of cool tech bits and one obvious fake-out we clocked early. Still walked out smiling.

Fun overall but maintenance needs love. We hit a couple of elements that were apparently retired, and the GM wasn’t sure how one step worked. Didn’t ruin it, just dulled the momentum a bit.

I’m big on aesthetics, and while the gameplay was enjoyable, the vibe didn’t become a favorite for me. We even managed to bypass one puzzle by accident, which was funny in the moment.
